Improving Our Community

As Camden County Commissioner, Melinda helped lead an effort to improve Greentree Road, strengthening the county’s infrastructure.

Melinda supported the launch of the Camden Loop, an on-demand micro-transit service designed to improve transportation access in Camden. The initiative expands transportation options, connects residents to job opportunities, and alleviates congestion, with a focus on affordability and convenience for the community.

Under Melinda’s leadership, millions of dollars’ worth of grants was allocated to more than 60 nonprofit organizations across the county as part of the Board of Commissioner’s COVID-19 Community Recovery Grant Program.


Strengthening Education​

During her time as Commissioner, Melinda helped lead an effort with Camden County Library System to develop a program for elementary school students to learn more about our nation’s history.

Melinda Kane improved literary accessibility, removed financial barriers, and encouraged more residents in our community to utilize library resources by eliminating Camden County Library late fees.
Supporting Our Seniors

Under Melinda’s leadership, Camden County Library System brought back the annual program of free tax assistance for seniors.
A mother, an advocate for veterans and families, a teacher and small business owner, Melinda Kane has called Camden County home for over 40 years. She resides in the Woodcrest neighborhood of Cherry Hill where she and her husband raised their 3 sons, Jeremy, Daniel and Benjamin.

With gratitude for a community that rallied for her and her family at a time of tragedy, when her son, Marine LCPL Jeremy Kane was killed in Afghanistan, Melinda recommitted herself to public service, seeking to give back to the residents of Cherry Hill and Camden County.

Melinda is a proud Gold Star Mother who is active with many organizations serving military families and veterans. Additionally, she has served on the Board of the Katz Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family and Children’s Service of SNJ and is a founding member of Congregation Kol Ami. She earned her BA degree in Special and Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo and post graduate studies in Educational Social Work at Widener University.
